The computers here at work block most websites other than basic email access or mapping sites (somehow WordPress is still available – YAY!), and sound is locked in OFF mode … so YouTube is a no-go. But Vimeo is still viewable (if not audible), and I think I found a video for the song that has been captured in my mind for the past week – Blue Oyster Cult’s The Reaper. Let me know if I’m right or wrong, and I can change out the video later, if needed:

PS: I have limited internet access now, as we don’t have it in our new home … email access during breaks at work, and occasional access to other sites from the library once a week. Forgive me if I don’t update as much as I used to …

I found out two weeks ago that a former flatmate of mine is being beaten by her current boyfriend. She’s been out of contact with everyone for several months – presumably at his request – and I found out only because of something mentioned in passing by a mutual friend in an email. I wish I knew a way to help her …

I found out about this video this morning, and after looking into Women’s Aid further thereafter, I feel it’s a good cause that can make a difference for many women, like my old flatmate. Please help.

So I have this lovely friend I endearingly call either Mr. Brown or Davy Jones … anyway, this lovely friend of mine always makes me smile, because he knows me inside-out and can make me laugh on cue at any given moment. In a private journal entry from a while ago, I mentioned that …

Sometimes the hardest things we have to deal with are the best things for us. At moment, I’m finding that everything is going where it needs to, regardless of what my plans or hopes have been. It’s hard to be grateful for something that causes pain or upset, but it’s the only way I know how to keep moving forward and put the past in its place. Gratitude allows lessons to come through. I keep reminding myself of what I’ve learned, and try to keep those things with me.

The funny thing is how true that whole sentiment is, and how I didn’t really appreciate it fully at the time I wrote it. Many things have fallen into place over the past month that I couldn’t have possibly imagined before … my life has turned in a direction I’ve not foreseen in the slightest, and I am loving every minute of it All I can say now is that gratitude does make all the difference. Also, remembering that we don’t always have our lives as well-planned or perfectly figured out as much as we might think. Sometimes it’s better not to think so much. Just kind of … be. Don’t try so hard when all it does is complicate things unnecessarily.
